I believe the grand divine comedy is that life just doesn’t stop.
Moments pass and life continues, regardless of all, reminding you of the insignificance of projections and memories and the grandiosity of right now.
No matter how severe you may feel at any given moment, life doesn’t care, nor does it notice, you may be in a fit of a paroxysm that seems to mean the world, even mean the entirety of existence to you, but you will sleep and awake once more and everything will be the same as before you felt your fit of passion.
This is such an entirely comedic expression of the human condition I think, we instill so much meaning in to our lives that is of our own creation, while everything around us just exists, its the gift and curse of a human experience. I think its beautifully expressed through music by Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Dean Martin and people of that sort, these were men who felt deeply and loved fiercely only to be reminded time and time again, they are only moments and when its all said and done, they have vanished long ago.
I think about it in relation to my life, I’ve done so much, been so many places, loved so many women and engaged in genuine brotherly love with so many good men, but as I sit in this farmhouse the middle of nowhere, alone and with nothing but the thinking mind and the beating heart, it all “means” nothing, yet to me, its everything….
Truly a divine comedy if there ever was one.
But there is no other option than to continue living, living for the now, regardless of its futility, because within it is the only possibility of life. An idealism of the “now” is not out of a lack of responsibility but from a severe and drastic adoption of responsibility because living for the past, or living for the future isn’t really living at all.
