The Golden theory

I just like the title 😉

But now let’s think about what the theory could be.

Im in this headspace because today I made a YouTube video discussing my recent month long psilocybin micro dosing experiment. I meandered around the idea and ending up discussing my ideas around what I ended up coining, my “psychedelic theory”

For me, the idea of psychedelics came into my sphere of influence fairly early. I had an uncle who was around the age of 30 when I was maybe 7 or 8, during this period of my uncles life he was interested in the “expansion of his consciousness” and also helping others do so, this always led to him being the most hated person at the family get togethers 😉 regardless though, I was young enough to not be conditioned by the “psychosis of everyday life” if you will, I understand now the pursuit of expanding your consciousness, can and may, conflict with your ability and desire to “keep up with the Jones” and this often isn’t the most welcomed by people who may have their lives revolving around such endeavors, not to be putting any value judgment or pretense around this, to each their own and especially if they are finding their happiness and will to live. But case in point, I was young enough to not be put off by his “radical ideas” not all of which I agreed with I might add, but the fact that they were different is what held my attention.

Maybe its my inherent narcissism, potentially my broken inner child who desires to stand out and captivate while simultaneously being completely unnoticed, but the idea of being “different” always interested me, always, even before my uncle entered this “alternative” phase of his life. And I always felt different, I had a strange and unconventional childhood and was a cute, quiet child with big blue eyes that pierced the soul because of it. So you can say I was “primed” for a deeper curiosity when I noticed the push back he received from our family, I wanted to understand what made his view of things different, regardless of if it was “better” or “worse” or “right” or “wrong” this was completely irrelevant to me. And so let’s just say I listened, I listened with my own agenda of discovering the missing, or extra, “piece” my uncle possessed that so agitated those around him at this point in his life.

He was experimenting with “teacher plants” (mind altering substances) at this point of his life and over the next few years I heard him discussing those experiences sometimes and even heard quite a few times the story of him putting magic mushrooms in the spaghetti he so generously made for his mom and dad! Absolutely ridiculous!! And hilarious. Any way, as you can see by this, the idea of people “doing these sorts of things” wasn’t completely alien to me and even sparked my interest in the sense of maybe this was one of those things that gave him this “difference” he seemed so profoundly to have in contrast.

So there’s enough of a preamble, let’s get down to the “Golden theory”, maybe you will find this funny, I sure do as I write this, but its a complete paradox. The golden theory may precisely be to have no theory, to be awake to what the moment is giving. What does this mean?

When I think about a psychedelic experience, I think of an experience where you are in uncharted territory, during this time you can be curious, or afraid, maybe both. But this is a place where the moment you may have a theory of “what it is” its suddenly become something different, and in your altered state, you become dramatically aware of that. So the Golden theory nearly becomes: when you believe you understand something, anything, remember that you’re holding on to an illusionary dock, one from which your ship sailed from long ago, the dock being a metaphor for an idea, an instance, and your ship being a metaphor for the passage of time. If we trap ourselves in our beliefs of the world, we live in a psychosis of sorts, no longer aware of the bigger picture, dancing to the music but forgetting about the instruments. We are made aware, dramatically aware, of this golden theory during altered states of consciousness, usually the ones where the ego is weakened or obliterated, usually this scares us because we are so used to the ego keeping us safe from our perceived and concluded objects of threat, ranging from a conversation with that kind of person to a car speeding through the crosswalk, conversely and important to note, the perception of those “threats” isn’t what keeps us safe, its the embrace of the moment that actually does.

“The fear of suffering is often worse than the suffering itself”

Our hearts and souls are one with the golden theory, our identities and the “suits” we wear around are the antithesis.

One who lives with the golden theory guiding doesn’t have the sustenance fear needs to live and breed, the Golden theory only nourishes and nurtures what is ready to be alive.
